Traditional HVAC systems bring in fresh air from the outside, irrespective if it is needed or not. Bringing outside air to a comfortable indoor temperature takes a lot of energy.
With DCV, the system only brings in air when the inside air is no longer fresh. A Department of Energy report estimates this can save an average of 24% in costs ( upto 35% in some of the study cases ).
Variable Speed Fan support
In commercial buildings, it is important to run a fan whenever the building is occupied for ventilation. However, running the fan at full speed all the time wastes a lot of energy.
With VFD fan drive, the fan runs at a slower speed most of the time. It speeds up when the Cooling or Heating coils are active. DOE estimates on average this saves 12% in energy costs ( up 33% in the DOE study ).
Occupancy detection and Auto away
Many offices have a schedule that varies ( like conference rooms or sales folks on the move ). The system has an occupancy detection function that marks a zone as 'away'. It will let the temperature drift from the desired temperature by upto 3 degrees - enough to save energy but not too far away to bring it back to desired if the zone gets occupied.
No Bypass Dampers
Traditional zone controls can shut off the airflow to a large part of the building. This can create backpressure and damage the support fan. Bypass dampers bleed some of the supply air back into the return air and prevent backpressure increase.
However, doing so reduces the efficiency by upto 16%. In fact, California is planning on banning the use of bypass dampers. 75F's solution predictively rebalances the airflow so that there is always at least 75% opening of the ducts. In most cases the pressure is actually reduced since the balancing dampers are fully open or eliminated.

We encourage every user to be their own researcher. We provide a “Kill” switch on the system that lets the system operate as a ‘dumb’ thermostat. Users can toggle between the ‘dumb’ and ‘smart’ modes. We still collect the data on things like compressor run times and comfort index in every zone.
We let the users record their own qualitative opinions. In addition, every month, we provide a report that lets users visualize the correlation between system operation in ‘smart’ vs ‘dumb’ mode and corresponding comfort index and energy.
All zoning systems promise more comfort - none can deliver like the 75F dynamic balancing system. Each building is a dynamic entity - the heating loads change with weather, angle of the sun, and the occupancy. Our system models all of these and predicts what airflow is required to condition before it is needed. We keep ahead of the temperature drifts so the zone is at the desired temperature.
We take occupant comfort seriously. So seriously, that we created the building comfort index that tells the average difference in desired temperate and the actual temperature across all the zones. We proudly display this realtime date as our home screen on the control panel.
Ever notice that you feel more uncomfortable when the humidity is higher even at the same temperature? Well we do too. We tweak the desired temperature so that if the humidity levels change from when you changed the desired temperature, you'll still get the same perceived temperature.
